Googleonly provides an online setup file for Google Chrome which installs the latest version of Google Chrome. It happens frequently that a user upgrades to a new version of Google Chrome and gets upset by an unpleasant feature, a missing option or an annoying bug. Therefore, some users want to roll back to an older version of Google Chrome to preserve a useful feature, option or support some legacy technology. However, is it really wise to use an out-dated verison of Google Chrome? The answer is NO since out-dated browsers usually come with security issues. A better solution to the problem is to use Slimjet browser, which runs on the latest Blink engine while offering more flexibity, features and options compared with Google Chrome. With Slimjet, we give users more choices to tune their browser to their own personal preference instead of forcing a majority style on everyone. Slimjet also integrates more features internally in the most efficient way so that you don't have to spend time dealing with unstable and resource-consuming third-party plugins. Best of all, Slimjet syncs all your Chrome data and settings via your Google account and is compatible with your favorite Chrome extensions. There is absolutely no learning curve for you to switch from Chrome to Slimjet. Give Slimjet a try now and you will never look back!

For users who insist on using an old version of Google Chrome and becoming vulnerable to security issues, you can find the right version of Google Chrome to download for your platform in the following sections.

Unfortunately, we only started to archive old versions of Chrome since Chrome 48. Chrome dropped support for Java, silverlight and other NPAPI plugins in Chrome 45. If you are looking for an old version of Chrome with support of Java, silverlight or other NPAPI plugins, you would have to use Slimjet Web Browser, which is based on Chromium and retains support of Java, silverlight and other NPAPI plugins.

The old versions of Chrome before V58 are packed as 7zip self-extracting executable. Just run the executable and extract the files under any folder on your hard drive. Then launch Google chrome with chrome.exe under the extraction folder. After V59, the archived chrome old version files are official Chrome offline installers. Just uninstall any current version of Chrome first and then run the downloaded installer. It's a one-click installer without any interactive UI.

Please notice that Chrome dropped support of XP and Vista since Chrome 50. If you are using XP and Vista, please download Chrome 49 or earlier, or download Slimjet Web Browser, which is based on Chromium and continues to support XP and Vista.

Note: Google Chrome stopped release 32-bit builds for linux since Chrome 49. If you are still using 32-bit linux and would like to be protected with the latest security patches as well, you can use Slimjet Web Browser, which is based the Chromium open source project and continues to support 32-bit linux.

Sometimes it can be just because you don't like a new update or the new version of your preferred browser. Different people have different reasons, for example, developers don't like the placement of tools and in other cases the favorite extensions might not appear so useful. In such circumstances, all you need is the same previous version. In case of Chrome, though Google doesn't provide you with any Source) to download older versions of Google Chrome, but if you are really comfortable with those you don't need to disappoint. Slimjet offers you all older version under one roof.

Google do not support any rollback to the previous versions of Chrome. But that doesn't mean, you cannot get the one. Yes, there is a simple way out to get previous version. Just uninstall your present adaptation, erasing each user's saved profile information, and then re-install the needed version. Here it is important to note that user may lose their bookmarks, history, and so on. Hence, be careful while you proceed with the same.

Now getting and downloading the prior versions of Google Chrome is possible. Slimjet share the old versions of Chrome, packed as 7zip self-extracting executable file. Download the one you need, run the executable and extract the files on your hard drive. Simply launch Google chrome with chrome.exe under the extraction folder. You can scroll above for different versions, available in 32- bit and 64- bit.

When you enable offline drive in the chrome browser it seems by default it makes recent files available automatically. I need to know how much data it makes available offline by default when you enable offline access.

It's important to note that the data stored in the cache is not easily accessible as it's stored in a proprietary format that's specific to Google Chrome. If you need to access the actual files, you may use a third-party tool to extract them from the cache, but this can be complicated and is not recommended for most users.

here are the links to the official Google support pages for adjusting the storage limit for offline access in Google Drive on Chrome and for finding the "Chrome cache" folder on your computer's hard drive:

The new offline gmail Web app is reliant on chrome, & you do need to allow chrome to run in the background for offline gmail to function.

As for your other questions, I'll leave those to someone with more knowledge of the new gmail offline Web app.

Dodo,

you should probably report both to offline gmail and chrome

Report an issue in chrome: click spanner, tools, report an issue

In offline gmail, I am not certain that you can.

And there are other users (specifically of the new offline Web app) complaining about lost mail. It's just the posts are scattered about.

You said you got a message the other day with "Jim"in it, that flashed across the screen, & then you were disconnected...

See google chrome help, troubleshooting, "He's dead, Jim".

This message is related to memory shortage, and is displayed when the operating system is low on memory, you may see it just before chrome shuts the tab, or the browser shuts altogether. You may also see this message if you terminate processes in chrome using google chrome task manager, or windows task manager.

The advice is to close tabs you don't need in chrome, if you have multiple tabs open, and to close other open programs to free up memory resources.

Yes, "wrench" is American for the tool commonly known in the UK as a "spanner" - technically, it will be a wrench, as google hail from USA. A lot of UK users call it a spanner as it's the word in common usage here; we see that shape & it's the word that automatically comes to mind. :-) I wonder if google will eventually convert us to thinking "wrench" instead.

Actually meant both gestures are in common usage here; but, it's true, verbal encouragement is given freely!

In my experience, two fingers has a very specific, and quite limited translation, whereas the phrasal accompaniments to one are more varied & creative.

Thats for my Xfce desktop with lightdm installed(instructions explain this may vary according to DE.)

Once this was created My computer shows up under the chrome-remote-desktop and i was able to create a pin however immediately after enabling it my phone will only show it as offline. This was as far as I got and there's little documentation for this in the Arch linux community. Any users care to share thier experiences and possible solutions here's a link to the window: It to shows my compute as offline each time I enter/create a pin and my android shows the same offline lines in the pic

also there's no output running the remote desktop command from the console.

So I've revisited this topic on a new Home network just to see I'f it was the public network that was the source of this issue. Still a no go I get the same result on our own network. Apparently others maybe having this problem =en any one else in the arch community having this issue?

Idea 2: (@Brandon_Hein) Using Desired Capabilities it might be possible to set Chrome to use a proxy server. If that proxy server is some non existing server address then you would be effectively offline.

Idea4: there are some topics about devtools api and how to use it programtically.

Seems like from devtools is the only option left to have chrome in offline mode since 3x.something version

Feel free to dig into

Google Chrome offline installer is used on Windows 11 computers when the regular installer fails. This is a standalone installer file that does not require additional downloads. This article will help you download these files.

First, check if you have the latest chrome version. Before you take all the effort to download and install the latest, it will be good to check if you already have the latest version. Here is how you do it:

The offline installer is used when you are unable to use the regular installer to get Chrome. The regular installer downloads a smaller file that downloads the rest of the installer and completes the installation. In case this is not working, the offline installer is the best workaround that you can try.

The offline installer is also used when a computer that you are trying to install Chrome on does not have an internet connection or has a slow internet connection. In such situations, you can download the complete offline installer setup file on a computer where you have a fast internet connection. After downloading, copy the installer to the computer where you want to install Chrome. Double-click the file to start the installation.

Another useful scenario is when you have to install Google Chrome on multiple computers. If you are to use the regular download and install process, you will end up downloading the complete file multiple times. For example, if you have ten computers to install Google Chrome on, you will download the file ten times. Imagine that the Chrome installer is 25 MB. By the time you finish installing Chrome on ten computers, you will exhaust 250MBs of your broadband usage. However, if you use the offline installer, you can reduce this usage to 25 MB. You will download it one time, and copy it to all the ten computers you need to install Google Chrome, and install it.
