Sadly, not everything can be added to the wiki. We want all our pages to be as up-to-date as possible and to meet our quality standards in general. That is made harder the more pages are created, not to mention additional factors, such as the fact that lower ranked teams tend to not have social media where they announce transfers, and so on.

Now, these are not non-negotiable. This wiki contains coverage of certain teams, players and scenes that do not actually meet our guidelines, yet we allow them because there is an active volunteer(s) that keeps those pages of high-quality. This however does not mean that we will allow you to create a page for your team just because you say you will keep it up to date. On the other hand, if you were to be highly interested in, say, keeping the Spanish national scene up to date, then go ahead! In the cases where this is not the case however, all of this means we have to prioritise: we try to keep our coverage to just the top and the sub-top tier of competitive Trackmania as defined by the guidelines below. Any pages that do not meet these guidelines will not be deleted, but will be moved to your user space.

These guidelines were constructed through an iterative process, with input from active editors and community voices who joined the discord to give their opinion. Feedback is always welcomed in the above mentioned discord.

For players with non-romanized aliases (Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc) please make sure to create their page with the romanized version of their alias. In the case of their personal names, the player infobox supports both a romanized and non-romanized version.

Currently, there are four different tiers, ranging from Tier 1 (premiere leagues and tournaments with top players and big prize pools) to Tier 4 (events with little to none prize pool), that a tournament can be assigned to. Listed below are the requirements for each tier. If there are multiple specified, the league has to meet all of them to be considered in that Tier.

If some part of the prize pool is not monetary, 75% of the non-monetary prize pool value is taken for tier consideration. Non-monetary prizes are all prizes, that are not paid out either in cash, cheque or bank transfer using default fiat currencies OR are paid out, but under the condition to be used for a specific purpose.

Additionally to league tiers, tier types are special modifiers used to denote special stages of tournaments, occurence rates of tournaments in a series or other cases where the tournament format deviates from the standard.

Used to denote that the tournament is open and involves participants competing indirectly on a specific set of maps over multiple days, weeks, or months, usually through some type of dedicated leaderboard. This does not include cup style competitions. The tiers for this type of competition follow the notability guidelines above, but participant notability requirements only apply to the top 10 players.

Ultimately, the Editors reserve the right to assign a different tier than normally if they believe, that the tournament can compensate the unmet requirements through other means (e.g. high social media presence, overwhelmingly high interest of the top players despite low prize pool, etc.). Such right is kept to ensure that the assigned tier reflects the level of prestige a tournament has in the game's community.

The T Trial List is a list of difficult trial maps in Trackmania Nations Forever created and maintained by T. The list is separated into six categories of difficulty. Completing maps in each category awards varying number of points towards T's Trial Leaderboard, ranging from 5 points in the Challenging category to 900 points in the Nameless category (given on finishing Final Enigma which is the most difficult map on the list). This list is also used as the only recruitment requirement for new T members.

The T3 trial list was initially created by nixion in early 2015 on the Trackmania Nations Forever Exchange (TMNF-X) forums. Eventually it was replaced by a spreadsheet in mid-2019. As of mid-2022, the list moved again, and the current version is maintained on a website, the Trackmania Trial Website.

There is some debate on what the qualifications should be for the Inhumane and Nameless categories. The Inhumane category was originally created to refer to trial maps that were theoretically possible for humans to finish without external tools, but so difficult that any were unlikely to ever be finished. However, since that time, six of such maps have been finished. Thus the Nameless category was introduced for harder inhumane maps that have never been finished. As there had been very few serious attempts to finish the easiest map in this category, Uncanny Valley, the distinction between the two was previously clear. However, on its release, The Twisted Treeline was estimated to be worth 160 points and considered likely to be finished eventually. This led to discussion if requirements for inclusion in the Nameless category should be based on point value, or on whether a map has been finished. It was eventually decided that only unfinished maps can be included in the Nameless category, and are designated as Inhumane once they are finished. Notably, Plasma by nixion was not added to the nameless category despite being considered by some to be the hardest trial of all time, because it was built to only be finishable using external tools such as TMInterface.

In February 2022, the point values for Nameless maps were replaced with star ratings for difficulty. If any are finished, the proper point value will be decided at that time. Since that time, Sol, Caffeine, and Uncanny Valley were all finished, being assigned point values of 140, 250, and 300 respectively.

In August of 2023, discussions began on the possibility of adding two more categories to the list. This would be the first time a new category would be added since the early days of the list on the TMX forums.

One proposal was for a separate category for Concept Trials. The reasoning behind adding a separate category for concept trials was that many of these maps require skill sets that are not required for the vast majority of more typical trials. As such, much of the difficulty in finishing these maps actually stems from learning the initial skill set in the first place, after which future finishes become much easier. Notable maps that would likely be added to the list if this category is added include Spiderman's Adventures In The Netherlands by igntul (spiderman) and Life In Reverse by simo_900 (backwards turtle). Other maps currently on the list such as Spandrelism and Hyperdrive may be moved to this category. One proposed idea for point values in this category was to assign points separately for learning a base skill and completing a map.

The other proposal was for an Intermediate category below Challenging. Proposals for point values included 0 points (for consistency with the current system which only includes point values in multiples of 5), and 1, 2, or 3 points. As of late August, none of these ideas have been implemented yet.

In 2022, T began to host a series of challenges for trial drivers. These challenges are separated into 6 month seasons, and each month has a main objective and a secondary objective, with gold tags awarded for finishers of all objectives in a season, and silver tags for finishers of all secondary objectives. In August of 2023, alongside T Trial Cup 2023, a second season of Trial Challenges was confirmed to be planned, and Season 2 began in September.

While scouring for a timetable showing the times needed for the trackmaster medals, I came across this German forum post compiling the times. These aren't official minimum requirements for the medals, but it shows the fastest recorded time that does not award the trackmaster and the slowest recorded time that does award the medal. You don't need to translate the page. The spoilers are for each color series. Hope this helps. It seems pretty accurate so far.
