I use the Netflix app on all my devices. I have my Netflix logged into my TV which is connected to the WiFi at one of my houses and whenever I try to watch Netflix on any device at my other home using the WiFi there, it just does the same thing as you are facing. Following up with support, I got told its due to the new No-password sharing policy being implemented in small scale which should gradually roll out to everyone. Also, the support is not the best, at the early part of my tickets, they would just ask me to check by rebooting the device, re - installing Netflix app or some dumb crap, then after a lot of back & forth, they game me the above answer of No Pass Sharing
So let me preface this by saying downloading the Netflix App is not an option. So my thought is to just make a wrapper app that loads the netflix website in a WebView. This works for login/navigation; however, whenever you hit the play button to start playing the video, there is no response and no output in logcat. I'm looking for a way to see more debug messages from the WebView or a way to get the video playing. Using Android 4.4.4 by the way.
The navigator API to find supported widevine configuration is requestMediaKeySystemAccess. We see this API being used by akira.js player in netflix website. Adding a breakpoint here we see that the parameters passed to requestMediaKeySystemAccess is:
if user agent is mobile device than Netflix will use intent based urlschema. This intents are handled by Netflix app and if device dont have Netflix installed to handle them then "install Netflix screen" will be shown.
If you manually set user agent to desktop then Netflix will ask to install Microsoft Silverlight Plugin which is available only for Mac and Windows. So again you will reach a dead end.
Yes, you can run both apps but quality is limited to 540p.
If you boot LibreELEC Kodi Linux OS, images I made, you can run the Netflix addon in 1080p quality with auto frame-rate switching for smooth playback.
Best is to get the EcoPi case with the big heatsink for this since it will use CPU decoding for this higher quality.
In Android you can also play 4K videos you download or streams from Youtube or IPTV services hardware decoded smoothly.
A FireTV stick could be an option But having an all in one solution would be nicer Can you do me a favour and tell me what widevine version rock pi has on android/android tv? On my ODroid C2 I have L3. When I understand it right, that means only SD is possible, but that would be sufficient for me. As I have no 4k screen.
Ok then it could be an option. I thought my stuff is running in 720p on ODroid. As I assume, it should then also run in 720p on rockpi? Or do I miss something? An upgrade to rockpi would be interesting as it supports newer android versions.

I understand that, but as a consumer you buy GTV device without knowing it is not Netflix licensed (because most official Android TV devices are licensed). Xiaomi mi tv S box is Netflix licensed and it is 50 euros while i paid for GTV 155 euro (almost the same price as Nvidia Shield).
Let's say if GTV was a Netflix licensed it was worth the price. Nvidia Shield tv pr was 200 euros as blackfriday deal.
I've already tried everything and simply can't get netflix to work. Can an admin please tell me why formuler can't get it right that these devices simply get a license? What is the problem there? I think it's a real pity, you pay a lot of money and then something like that.

1. Netflix give only his partners (with over 1 Million sold devices) certification, others have no chance. If someone now say but some cheep china boxes can do this, yes but with cracked certf. and that is something Formuler will never do. Some users should realise finally that Netflix decide who get certf. and not Formuler. Formuler tried to get the certf. but what Netflix want as requirements is not possible to fulfil.
Well... it got escalated to their 3rd tier of engineer support. Apparently they are going to reach out if they have further questions, however it will get tracked and we should see something in the next update or the one after that.
After researching this a bit, it appears the Humax Aura doesn't have a specific hardware DRM chip, which if true would mean the Aura will never be able to support Netflix no matter what updates they release.

If you can't find the app in the Google Play Store, it's possible that it doesn't exist or is currently unavailable on Android and Google TV platforms. In that case, you might resort to casting content.
Alternatively, you can use the voice search or keyboard search on the Home screen to look for apps without using the Apps tab. If the app is available, you will get a Google Play Store search result, and you'll be able to download the app immediately.
Alternatively, press the input key on your remote (). You can add apps to your input menu by moving to the right and selecting them from the available list. The Google Play Store is one of those apps.

Moreover, older TVs can't support new apps because of system requirements and a lack of processing power.
It's like trying to install a new app on first-generation smartphones. It requires too much of the device.

Netflix uses HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) technology to prevent unauthorized copying of digital audio and video content. If your projector or HDMI cable does not support HDCP, it will not be able to stream Netflix. You may encounter an error message regarding HDCP compatibility, or you might see a blank screen when you attempt to stream Netflix content.
If you're encountering the issue of why isn't Netflix working on your projector, it may be due to unsupported app or software problems. This is particularly common with older projectors that may not have the capability to support the Netflix app, or when the streaming device connected to the projector is running on outdated software. Symptoms include the Netflix app being unavailable, failing to open, or crashing unexpectedly.
If you're wondering "why can't I connect to Netflix," especially when trying to stream via a projector, it could be due to connectivity problems. A weak or unstable internet connection is often the culprit behind streaming disruptions. Symptoms of such connectivity issues include constant buffering, frequent loading interruptions, or an error message indicating a connection problem.
