I am a big fan of Japanese horror, and definitely appreciated the original film. The American remakes, all of them, were bad, and paled to The Ring, but I was excited to see a new horror series on Netflix based in that world, and heading back to its Japanese origins.

It also provided underrepresented communities with an opportunity to tell their own stories and reclaim their place in American history.
