hey everyone,

I have  a  bunch of joints attached to a nurbs curve which is bound to a smaller set of control joints in a facial setup. There is seems to be absolutely no way of smoothing the skinweights on this curve, neither native maya smooth skin weights functions nor any script. Every google search I did on the topic so far produced zero results which actually adressed the problem.
The only way to edit these weights seems to be the component editor.

so am I just missing something entirely here and does anyone know a better way of working with skinweights on curve objects?

I think you can copy skinWeights from a mesh to a curve.
So one solution would be to do your smoothing on a ribbon that matches the shape of your curve, then copy from one to the other.
