Output Vray multimatte reflection only?

Is there any workflow in Vray that allows for the output of a material-based multimatte reflection ONLY?

I've tried various combinations of object properties and materials wrappers, but can only get the matte reflection AND the matte of the reflected object with that object's primary visibility on, or with its primary visibility off (such as for a reflection only pass) I get a reflection but I don't get the reflected matte. This seems to be a Catch 22, but I'm sure there must be a way to do this (other than rendering further matte passes to separate the primary and reflected part of the matte).

Use a Vray dirt map as a Reflection Occlusion (It acts as a primary reflection ray) whatever mode (blinn / phong) on the extra_tex. Then use the Result Affect for the obj that you want to be affected, plus the radius then you got your matte for reflections.

Thanks for the reply, but can you elaborate on this? I don't quite get what you're saying....

Extra element in Vray allows you to do customs passes, so I added a Vray Dirt into the extra element and the you can see the settings that I was talking about on the vray dirt.

Yes, thanks.

That's a cool approach, and I'm sure I'll find a use for that.

However not exactly what I'm after in this case -- I'm trying to find a way to get material ID driven multimattes to render in reflections, without having to have the primary visibility of the reflecting objects turned on.

Im not sure what you are trying to achieve then, with this technique you can have matte for every reflection from object to object, floor reflections, etc ...
Maybe show me what you got and add some pics to explain a bit better or something so I can understand better your question.
