Hi all, just trying to find the attributes listed in point #8 of this recently updated doc-

"In particular, some attributes in the main aero properties that you might want to tweak include:
  • Smoke Threshold and Smoke DIssipation to control how the effect fades off.
  • Randomize Velocity to break up large, smooth flows and add visual detail."

Both don't seem to be visible in Maya 2016 service packs 5 or 6 & I've checked through my main bifrost container node as well as the emitter. Anywhere else I should be looking?
Under the Air tab of the main bifrost container I have Density, Temperature & Smoke Threshold.

thanks

Hm, I don't see it when logged into manage.autodesk.com (under product enhancements,  next to all the other extensions and service packs)...

Am I looking in the wrong place?

There seems to be a problem with the website that they are looking into… it is not appearing for some who have the suites entitlement.

One suggestion was to delete caching data or try IE, but I don’t if that will help you. Another was to set a filter (using that little funnel button in the upper right corner), then Clear All to the Applied Filters.  I’m guessing they will fix the problem soon.

Hi again Duncan,

It seems that Extension 2 is available if you click the "Download" link next to your subscription/maintenance product followed by the "Updates and addons" link. However, if you click the link which is called "Product enhancements" you only see previously released extensions and service packs. A little bit confusing :)

I figured I'd ask you one more thing on this...

So, I can now see Maya 2016 Extension 2. But I can also see that there's a Maya 2016 Service Pack 6, only available for Windows.

So...
- Should this service pack be applied after installing Extension 2 or is it included in Extension 2?
- Why is there no such service pack for Linux (or OS X)?

...do you know?

Cheers!

Hi Fredrik,

since I went through this last week and again yesterday, I'll answer.

There is a 2016 SP6 release for both windows and linux. For windows this is a patch. For linux this is a full install.
There is also a link to an extension 1 update for windows (also a patch) but I'm still unclear whether it is needed if you already have the ext1.
For linux there is a seperate single full installer for 2016 EXT 1 SP6.

2016 EXT 2 (aka 2016.5) is a new release, that comes with a full installer for both windows and linux. It installs as 2016.5, uses your existing license and can be installed side by side with 2016. It is also a new API so plugins that you want to use will need to be recompiled for 2016 ext2 (aka 2016.5)

I have not mentioned osx because I have no interest in it but I think I did see releases in each of these categories for osx though.
(I was also told there were some problems with links on the web-site, but all worked for me. The ext2 links only appeared today.)

I hope this is helpful info.

regards
David

Hi David and thanks for taking the time,

So, in other words, there's no Service Pack for 2016.5 and the one I see listed there (Service Pack 6) is in fact for Maya 2016 then?

Cheers,
Fredrik

To the best of my knowledge, that is correct.
