Hello,
I've asked googe and have only managed to find people with the same issue and no solution. I'm curious if anyone of you have solved this?
Certain objects disappear when I scrub or do a playback in a viewport 2.0 window. Currently I've got a scene with different rigs referenced in and some of them go away and some display fine. It's not a straight mesh issue either as the control nodes for my rigs go away too.

Would anyone of you happen to know what's going on?
Thanks,
Mikael

We've had issues in 2016 in vp2.0 that when you move a certain number of units away from origin, things like locators and joints just 'disappear'.  This has been repro'd by autodesk, but still isn't fixed in sp5.  Not sure if it's related or not, but vp2.0 has been super buggy in 2016, especially if you combine that with gpu cached mesh via the new evaluation graph.  Sounds great on paper, but has been a recipe for disaster to date, even with approved Titan cards.

I did some further tests but haven't got any wiser. Although I did solve the problem for my needs at least.
My problem was with a mesh and rig (animated) referenced into a scene. Where scrubbing or doing a playback would make it disappear.
This was all around the centre of the world so I don't think it's the same thing as you had Eric. I should note too though, that there are four other different referenced and animated characters in the scene and two of them display fine, as far as I can tell nothing is different between them.
This disappearing is happening both in the shaded and wireframe mode.

Duplicating just the mesh so it's no longer rigged and simply static = disappear
Taking away the shader and assigning a plain lambert = disappear
Exporting the rig+mesh to a new maya scene = disappear

Trusty old .obj managed to remove the bug (but then the animation and rig is gone) and exporting it as an alembic did too.
I didn't try exporting it as a .fbx.

Just a long shot. But your rigs aren't coming in with or being added to layers that might have the visible during play back flag turned off on them ?

Now I feel foolish! Thank you Stephen. (I miss having other Mayans next to me!)
So this can accidentally be turned on by maya. Never knew there was a toggle there.
