Looks like someone got the beginnings of wavelet turbulence working in Maya
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=86&t=915147
he's only made it with 2011 32bit windows, so if you have that, give it a test!

Old news. He already gave me his code. Basically he is using an open source library you shown me a while ago. I myself considered to make a bridge to Maya. He already got a command plug-in and asked me if i can make the whole thing a node.
This weekend i will be working on this.
He is an interesting bird. He likes SOuP and asked me if i wanted to include that thing in the package. I agreed. Haha.

Doh, i sound stupid.
When i said "interesting bird" - this is absolutely on the positive side, in case you wonder what i mean there. Most of us are trying hard to make a "headline", while he is actually sharing his knowledge. That's interesting these days :)

hah, Peter, you're TOO in the know, "Old news! Thats from like 7 hours ago! Gosh I've already talked to him, added to SOuP, versioned it up 3 times, made sample files, used it on 3 commercials and added features until it broke." All before most people have had breakfast.

But, this happened last month i think, or even before that, the cgtalk post, no ?

Ok, ok, i are right, point taken: "don't post when in rush - you don't make sense". :)

Yeah, go ahead, make fun of me now.

Darn, you guys beat me to it :-)    I  was working on the same thing in my spare time,
and have  it almost working but it still kinda explodes,  Peter, you'll probably have more luck than I  considering  your experience with SOuP   but if I can offer any help  or vice versa,  I'd love to contribute.

I'll probably  continue it as a learning  experience  anyway.

Hi guys. I am the author of this plugin and maya sides code, which I sent to Peter (wavelet turbulence in maya). Tell me what's wrong with that, I sent the source code Peter? I see that Peter was working hard in this area (cg), and why not, if it can bring someone good. I can not entertaining cg professionally, because this is just my hobby, I work in another area. If you are wondering, at the moment I finish writing the node-based GPU, display fluids with high resolution in maya viewport. I hope that Peter will wavelet turbulence node, as it will be very well combined with this new locator node.
Thanx.
Maxim Kotrolev.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, sharing knowledge and
resources is the way of the future take a look at Blender. I wish
there were more people out there like you and Peter, thats one of the
biggest reasons I jumped on board with SOuP - Not only is it a
fantastic tool, but Peter is giving it away so why miss the
opportunity to learn? I think for software developers this is the best
way to get your tools out there. Keep up the good work fellas!

Wow, we have some competition here. :)
I looked at Maxim's code briefly, but cannot predict what will happen.
Don't worry - will remind you if i hit a problem. Thanks for the offer. :)

Maxim,

It is a wonderful, and rare thing to have people sharing their code
today. I applaud you, and thank you. Perhaps between you and Peter,
maya fluids will come close to FumeFX, and I won't have to switch
between Maya and 3dsMax when doing smoke/steam, etc.

Thank you for sharing.

Dont worry Maya fluids already comes close to FumeFX, plus a wavelet
Turbulence plugin wont all of a sudden make Maya fluids 10 times
better. Its the old story of the artist is the power behind the tool,
not the tool itself.

Sorry I just had to have my say on this, its a sensitive subjct for
me ;)
