Hi. I’m looking for some help with vray. I need to create a prism with light being split (dark side of the moon). I’ve seen various tutorials on the web, but either I’m dense of I’m missing something really basic cause I can’t get it to work. I’m also trying to interpolate from the max tutorials.

It seems to me that the crucial bits are:

- enable caustics in the render settings
- enable dispersion in your refractive vray material
- add a VrayEnvironmentFog (why is this?) to the Render Settings Environment Shader

I can get the Dispersion happening within the material, but not doing the caustic bit. I gather I’m supposed to have “Affect Shadows” off for the shader, but then I get a solid shadow.

Any ideas? I sure hope the vray 3 docs are better, including sample files.

I think you need affect shadows on.  I would think the end for would be so you can see it in the air(dust).
