I'm pretty sure this has come up before but a search of my thousands of group emails didn't bring anything up... ;)

Is there any way to remove a namespace from a reference once the reference has been made?

In other words, to revert to a state as if the reference was made without using namespacing?

Select top node, then go to modify>prefix heirarchy names, then leave everything in the window as is click ok. Should strip off prefix's.

Not quite what I'm looking for, and this won't work on referenced nodes anyway.

I looking for a way to get a clean reference with no namespaces at all....

Don't think you can do that. But maybe someone else does know. You can import the referenced objects into your scene and then strip the namespace off the front.
