Anyone know of any way to force Maya to display explicit file texture node names in the Hypershade?
It works about half the time, which in itself is mysterious since I think technically it's not even supposed to be an option (the 5 key just cycles through the image texture name, the node type... and absolutely uselessly nothing at all). But I have shading
networks with "before" and "after" textures plugged into choice nodes so I don't have to mess about with separate shaders, but want to see which textures are which.
It's this kind of half baked decision making and implementation from Autodesk that makes working in Maya such a joy. It should be simple to rename nodes and just have them show the name, FFS.
