Arnold 5 Skin shader

Anyone know why there is no skin shader in Arnold 5 for maya 2017???

I haven't used it yet, but I believe that the sss shading model changed to be more like Anders's alSurface... So you use the standard material and blend the sss in with the diffuse contribution. I've also heard that there's a 'skin' preset on the shader.

Hi Sid, yes I looked at the new aiStandard Surface shader but its subsurface tab is very limited and only has 1 colour radius setting as apposed to the usual 3. :(

Anyway I've switched back to MtoA1.3 and alShaders for the time being as there were some complaints about the AOV's not working properly either. Anders says he will no longer be updating his shaders for Arnold 5 either :((

Yep, super sad times about that, I've pretty much been using alSurface exclusively for the past two years.

I know Sid a lot of people in production are gonna be upset about that, you would think Autodesk/Solid angle would at least pay Anders to implement them into v5!

But then the ongoing support? Could be endless!

I got the feeling that Anders wanted to spend his time on something else.
