wire deformer rotation issue

Hi guys,

I have an issue with a wire deformer. So the curve has a wire deformer and connected with a locator using a point on the curve node, the point has strange rotation. The problem is whenever rig has rotation then the locator rotates as well.

I read that wire deformers won't work with rotation, need to make it static and blendshape the mesh instead. Any other solution to this issue?

Are you driving all the points of the wire Curve and the base curve with one locator?
I’m a bit confused as to what you are explaining.

How is the locator connected to your rig?

What’s moving the locator ?

It sounds like he just has a locator constrained to the curve, but it rotates when the rig rotates because the curve normals are flipping.

This is why I hesitate to use curve based deformers in rigs.

A long time ago, I saw an example where they pointed one curve's normals at another offset curve. I wish I could remember how they did that.

Hi guys,

Sorry made you confused about the explanation. Well, now it's fine, the issue is not with the wife deformer but the world up object aim constraint instead. Thanks for the answers. Cheers! :)

Cool. But now I would like more info about this "wife deformer" :)

One hack for this type of problem with flipping curve normals is to make an offset curve from the original with a tiny value, loft them, and make a wrap deformer instead. At least I think that's along the lines of what I've done in the past in similar situations.
