There has to be a faster way to do this. If I have a poly mesh, and select all the faces, what’s the best way to make all those faces individual objects? I would think it would be simply be Edit Mesh > Extract, but that gives me a message that:

polySurface only has one piece. Ignored.

Rude. If I select individual polys I it works, but that’s a no go. Do I have to script something to loop through all selected polys and run Extract? I don’t know how to do that. Any ideas?

thanks!

Not in front of maya right now, but isn't there a tick box to say keep polys together in the mesh menu? Have you tried playing with that?
