Warning: Maya 2018.1 can't open files over 2 GB

Hi,

we just realized that Maya 2018.1 has a serious bug (AD confirmed): Maya can’t open any mb files over 2GB in size - not from any previous version and not from 2018.1.

Just lost 5 hours of work.

Tried the import hack? I've 'opened' some pretty corrupt files in the past just by importing then instead.

No, doesn’t work either. With 2017 scenes you can save as ma in 2017. These can still be opened in 2018 even there over 2GB in size.

But our 2018 mb scene can’t be open in 2017 - so at the moment our 3,2 GB scene is lost.

I just announced this internally on Slack but quickly received word back from one of our artists that they have a 2.1 GB file in Maya 2018.1 without issues.

Was this logged internally with AD as a bug?

It works if you save as ma, but not as mb. At least not here and it seems that we are not the only one:
