"Planets revolve around the sun, seeds become flowers, embryos become babies, and with no help from us. You and I are an integral part of that system, too.
We can let our lives be directed by the same force that makes flowers grow, or we can do it ourselves. To trust in the force that moves the universe is FAITH."
-Marianne Williamson, from A Return to Love

Words from Wade, The Yogi Gardner:
As many of you know I love to garden. This past July I officially made the cross over into fanaticism by attending the Seed Savers Exchange Conference in Decorah Iowa with my Children Kaden and Kaiah. We camped out for 2 nights and attended workshops on how to plant and care for a number of different species, then save the seeds from the best plants and the finest fruits and flowers to plant them in the following years. A friend and student at Maya, Tim Buster once told me how it amazes him how just one tiny little seed has the potential to grow into a thriving plant.
For me, planting a seed, pampering a seeding until the conditions are right to plant it in the garden then making sure it gets everything it needs to thrive and finally tasting the fruits of you labor brings me closer to God. Nurturing the process that transforms light from the sun into food and sustenance continually reminds me of the miraculous nature of life. I look forward to getting up, feeling the cool dew covered grass under my bare feet and damp soil between my fingers. There is something meditative and soothing about being in my garden, I recently read a quote from Ben Quisenberry (a veteran seedsman): "A man is fortunate when he can be out in nature, out where he can work, out where he can fasten his hands onto the end of a hoe handle and make things grow-do things worth while. He's with nature and when he's with nature he's closer to God. God is nature and nature is God."
If your relationship with God is not well defined, try growing something from a tinny seed and marvel as God works his wonders before your very eyes.

Piper the Pit Bull NEEDS A HOME!
I'm a girl, about 4 years old, I'm housebroken and crate trained, and I won't get in your garbage or chew on your furniture. I LOVE people - young or old, I get along with everyone! I don't have kids in my foster home, but I have met kids before and I think they're great! I was rescued after some nice people found me in a park eating out of a trash can. They took me with them and boy was that the best day of my life! My head and ears had cuts and wounds all over them, and I was so hungry. Now my scars have healed and I'm happy and healthy, and ready more than ever for my new home! I was brought to Chain of Hope and have been in foster for the past several months.
