System requirement

Hello all,

 

I’m after minimum system requirement to deploy MaxScale for MariaDB galera cluster..

 

Can you please provide some info?

Hi,

A good estimate would to use a similar server for MaxScale as you use for the backend nodes. In most cases the actual load on the MaxScale server is less than on the backend database nodes so a smaller server with less memory and slower disks is usually a good pick.

In general, MaxScale won't use as much memory as a MariaDB server nor does it require fast disk IO but it does benefit from increased CPU speed and core count. As in all cases, it is recommended to run targeted testing with workloads that mimic the expected production traffic and scale the servers accordingly.
