Dear all,

I have a concern about the use of Maxent with dismo package.

As a short review, Philips et al. 2017 showed how the Species Distribution Modeling could be implemented in Maxent using the Poisson Point Process framework. This developement lead to the new version of Maxent (version 3.4.1) where the "cloglog" is set to be the default output format in the Java GUI application of Maxent and the package "maxnet" was also proposed for an implemention in R.

I am doing a project in which I would not like to use "maxnet" but rather, I will be focused on "dismo" library due to some of its flexibility.

I would like to know if there is any updated version of dismo that could work with Maxent 3.4.1.
I have just tried to put the jar file of maxent 3.4.1 in the dismo folder but it continues to call maxent 3.3.3k.

Any solution for this issue should be very appreciated.

Kind regards

I am using ENMeval, which calls dismo for the MaxEnt modeling, and it is using MaxEnt 3.4.1. A thought...are you sure you have the jar file in the dismo java folder and not just in the dismo folder? From the dismo documentation:

Put the file ’maxent.jar’ in the ’java’ folder of this package.  That is the folder returned by system.file("java", package="dismo")

Cheers

Dear Kass

Thank you for your suggestion. I am sorry for my late reply.

I followed exactly what you proposed and it works fine.

Cheers
