I downloaded climate data for future scenarios in generic format, from
Worldclim.
I'd like to know how to convert this .bil files into .shp, in order to
cut them, and them convert them again into .asc to be used in Maxent.

Thanks!

Dear Urumedo
You need a dedicated image processing software to convert the bil into ESRI
grid in order to convert it to shapefile. A software such as ERDAS Imagine
or IDRISI. Once you did that you can use the spatial analyst in ArcMap. Use
functions like convert from raster to points. Then use the function points
to raster.
However I would suggest that you skip the shp conversion step as you are
looking for the clipped asc file as end product, so do the following
1.Convert the bil to grd
2. clip the resulting grd using a polygon shapefile of your interest area.
3. convert grd to asc using spatial analyst in ArcMap.
You don't need the shapefile at all. Anyhow, you have to be careful and
cater for maintaining constant the number of columns, rows, the cell size
and extent of the all rasters you are using in your maxent modeling.

Hi,

GRASS [1] can do the same on the open source side. Import the *.bil file, apply a mask and export an ascii grid.  I agree with Husam, that there is no need for a conversion to a shpefile.

Hope this helps
Johannes
