Maxent and Java troubleshooting

Having a lot of trouble getting MaxEnt v3.3.3k to run after downloading. Opening the maxent.bat file leads me to a command screen with the following messages:

C:\Users\Cheryl\Desktop\maxent>java -mx512m -jar maxent.jar

Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion'

has value '1.7', but '1.6' is required.

Error: could not find java.dll

Error: could not find Java SE Runtime Environment.

I'm not very good with coding. I  tried re-installing Java to no avail and I'm not sure if I can drop back down to the 1.6 version.

Is anyone else having this problem?

yes i have the same problem but didnt get any answer yet

This shouldn't be an issue anymore. If you've upgraded to the most recent Java version and are still having problems, download Maxent v. 3.4 from the American Museum of Natural History website.
