Hi Folks, We're happy to announce a new version of Maxent (v3.4.3) is now available for download. This new version fixes various bugs, and now allows users to choose whether to clamp or not using the dismo::predict() function in R. Read more about the bug fixes and download here!

Dear Mary,

Just download this version but I have a problem with the program. I received this message: error reading file C:\....  alltest.csv: java.lang.classcastexception: [D; cannot be cast to.....

I received this message even with the sample data, I also tried older analysis performed with earlier versions of maxent and also failed. I remove previous versions of java and only keep the latest version Java 8 update 271

I had the same issue and couldn't get it to work in Windows. This was after having issues with it on my mac that it would pull up broader directories like Desktop or Download, but when I click on them it won't show me anything further. I tried just putting the path to my files in the fields, but that didn't work either. Any guidance on either these issues would be a great help!

If you are having issues with maxent.jar, it's almost certainly a problem with Java. There are lots of web resources to help you to get it working, but since every problem is different, unfortunately it's mostly trial and error. I found that removing all previous versions, installing the latest one, and following Stack Exchange posts to rename key directory assignments has usually worked for me, but I'm on a Mac. Good luck though.
