Hi all,
This isn't so much a question about running Maxent and is more related to getting the software approved for use on government workstations. I am trying to use Maxent on my gov computer but my facility requires documentation of section 508 compliance (a federal law requiring technology be accessible to those with disabilities) for it to be approved. I cannot find this information anywhere and was wondering if anybody else has worked with Maxent on a gov computer and how they were able to set that up.

Technically I am able to run maxent on my computer, it would just be out of compliance with my IT department (which is a no go).

Thank you!

A bit out of my depth but Would running it through Rstudio instead of the Java app be compliant? Or does every package need a different 508?

Also out of my depth, but Maxent can be run through R, but also through GUI software like the Java application or Wallace EcoMod. Both of the latter are pretty accessible, so I imagine they should qualify, but I am not an expert on 508 compliance.

Hi Evan,
Thanks for the reply! As far as I know, running maxent in R would be compliant so that is definitely an option if I can't get approval for the GUI version.
Thank you!

Thanks for the reply, Jamie! Running Maxent through R is looking like the best option.
Thanks again
