Hi,

I am unsure of the point of maxent.bat. After downloading the three files, either individually or as a zip file, I can open and use maxent.jar but when I click on maxent.bat I get the error message 'unable to access jarfile maxent.jar.' I have no issue with .zip filename and I am running windows 7, 64 bit. Is it important that maxent.bat works? What is maxent.bat for? If it is important how can I get it to work (recognise maxent.jar)?

Many thanks,

Dave.

Dave,

The maxent .bat file is useful for running batch files.  You don't necessarily need to go this route, but it can be extremely helpful if you have a bunch of analyses to run.  You can set up the batch file to select the specific functions and menu commands you need for a particular set of analyses.  The .bat file tends to work best when you use the SWD approach.  If you want to set up a .bat file, click on the help menu when the the maxent gui starts up and you can find a whole list of functions you can enter into a .bat file.  You can set up your batch file in a text file, save it, and then change the file extension to .bat.  This will make the file active and ready to go for analysis through maxent.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion Alqamy.
Java seems installed correctly. I have simply ignored the .bat file and opened MaxEnt directly from the .jar. All seems to work just fine that way.
Dave.
