Biomass distribution modeling using Maxent

Dear Dr. Mari,

Good day. Recently, I was going through a published paper https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00267-024-01965-7#data-availability where the authors used Maxent to predict the distribution of greenhouse gas.  I thought that we could only model species distribution. 

If this is correct, can we model/predict biomass using maxent? In that case, instead of using species occurrence data, we need to use plot-specific biomass data. Can anyone please shed some light on this?
