Hi,

I m working on maxent using SRTM data and derived data like slopes,
aspect...
All my ascii files have the same extent (4531, 1749 pixel using
ArcGIS) and i have 11 environmental layers.
When i run maxent i have a message error which says
"java.lang.OutOfMemoryError : Java heap space"

It appears just at the end of the process when it is reading the ascii
file (image of the prediction).
Everything is working if i don t tick the "make a picture" case.

Do someone knows how to solve this probel?

I have 4Gb of RAM and a Dual core 3,00GHz processor...

Thank you very much!!!!

Arno

If you Google the error there is a lot of info about it. I suspect
that you might have other processes using significant memory resulting
in Java running out. I doubt that it is a memory leak problem because
I think much larger Maxent runs have been run successfully.

Arno,

Are you using the latest release of Maxent? And are you clicking on
the maxent.bat file rather than maxent.jar file, and first editing the
maxent.bat file to increase the memory allocation, as described in the
help button page?

Hi Arno,

It should work if you just double click the bat file. Maybe make sure
the jar file is in the same folder? I had a problem where I increased
the amount of memory allocated to MaxEnt past 1500mb and it wouldn't
run. I reduced the amount of memory to 1500mb (using notepad) and it
worked fine. In 'Help' it says you can't allocate more than 1300 but
it runs ok for me with 1500.

I hope this helps,

Hannah
