Is there a way to by default obtain the info from mavlink_msg_id_request_data_stream ?

Hi,

I'm wondering if sending a mavlink_msg_id_request_data_stream is necessary in order to change the message rate and get the telemetry info? Is there a way to permanently set these as on-board parameters? So far I didn't manage to find anything that could help with this.

“Use the source, Luke!” - it the best option in this case.
look at https://github.com/diydrones/apm_planner/blob/master/src/uas/ArduPilotMegaMAV.cc#L299 to get you started on how the requestdatastream works for APM
It saves these parameters over a reboot. for PX4 Native Stack you iwll need to check with the authors
