Receive only heartbeat message

Hello,

I'm trying to get telemetry data from an ArduCopter module through MAVLink, but I'm not sure how this protocol works.

ArduCopter is constantly sending the same heartbeat message.

Can you please tell me what is the exact sequence of messages that I need to send in order to get some telemetry data?

I have tried sending a heartbeat message followed by a REQUEST_DATA_STREAM message, but I'm only receiving back heartbeat messages.

Is there any RFC specification for MAVLink?
