I am running the latest release of JMeter:
                <groupId>com.lazerycode.jmeter</groupId>
                <artifactId>jmeter-maven-plugin</artifactId>
                <version>1.9.0</version>

The first time running it on Jenkins got through all but one test before running out of memory with the following exception:
2014/05/22 14:11:44 ERROR - jmeter.JMeter: Uncaught exception:  java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
This message did display in the console of jenkins letting me know.

I updated the HEAP

Sorry, accidentally hit send before i finished....

I updated the HEAP size like forums say but now when I run through Jenkins it hangs on the first test without reporting a Heap space error.
Do you know what is going on?

Sounds like you need to configure the amount of memory used by the JVM:
