As discussed at https://github.com/maven-download-plugin/maven-download-plugin/issues/25#issuecomment-38780708 , there are a number of issues of interest that are already fixed in source (including #25), but can't conveniently be benefited from until a new version of the plugin is released.

Please consider releasing a 1.2.0 version of your plugin, making it available in Maven Central - or otherwise provide an update on the status of the project so that any alternate options for usability can be considered.
