I typically avoid these flamewars but I have actual numbers to throw into the ring.

Here's the mavelous.appspot.com analytics for the three weeks it has been live. Its not a huge sample we've had about 1200 visits total.

Of the indirect traffic (45%), over 80% had diydrones.com (or a ning domain) as the referral, and 6% was from fastcompany.com. The traffic per day indicates our biggest spike when Chris posted the blog post on diydrones, and smaller (1/3 max) spikes of about equal size on the days the metafilter story and fast company story ran.

Operating System,Visits
Macintosh,648
Windows,477
iOS,122
Linux,104
Android,50
Chrome OS,1
FreeBSD,1

So, it looks like iOS is roughly 2.5x as popular as Android with folks interested in Mavelous, on a fairly small sample size.

That's close enough for me to consider these two platforms with equal priority. John and I both have iOS (phone & tablet) and Android (phone) for testing. So far in my experience, its quite easy to support for both platforms using HTML5 - both Mobile Safari and the Android browser are quite good. On the mavelous mailing list, we have roughly the same number of active Android and iOS users, as far as I can tell.

I said on the dev call that the iPad was 5-10x as popular as Android tablets. I was wrong. It's closer to 20x.

See these charts (scroll down the amusing one).
