Dear Family and Friends,
It has been more than 1,000 days since the revolution in Syria began. The UN estimates nearly three-quarters of Syria’s 22.4 million population will need humanitarian aid in 2014. The cold weather has already reminded us the need is not being met by the international community. Children are freezing to death in a place that is all over our television screens. By the grace of Allah, United Muslim Relief started planning for the winter months ago. United Muslim Relief has already made its first shipment of winter gear for Syrian refugees this winter. 14 tons of blankets, jackets and winter gear was raised in collaboration with the interfaith community. This shipment is currently in route to Turkey. United Muslim Relief has declared a winter emergency in Syria and is calling on the community to continue to support the emergency drive by donating funds to purchase winter supplies and food on the ground.
