Hello again Bajan.
I found some old emails where a contact in Norway and I were discussing bipods. Here's what he did, which seems to have worked well.
He removed the strap ring from the stud (I'm not sure how to do this) then opened up the hole in the stud with a 3.5mm drill bit. This made it possible to install a Harris bipod (or a copy). The size he used was a 9 - 13 inch version.
My suggestion is to use some accurate calipers to measure the exact size of the nipples on the bipod's clamping arms, so that you only use the size of drill that's needed, and not one that is too big.
If you have success with mounting a bipod, please reply with some pictures.
An alternative I've been using on infrequent occasions is a mini set of crossed shooting sticks. Get two wooden rods about 40cm long, preferable with square cross-section, and drill holes about 1/3 along the length. Use an old shoe lace or leather strip to tie them together, tightly. Open them up in a cross and you have a bipod you can rest the rifle stock in. It works! Carrying them isn't always convenient, but you'll work something out.
Regards, Rick.
