Hi Tony. Welcome to the Mauser M03 forum and blog. :-)

I've not ever used or bought a rail mount for my M03s but know that I can get them from the Mauser importer here in Oz - I think for the same price as the ring style mounts. The shop's name is Mialls Gun Store. I'd say you'd have the same result with your importer/dealer in the UK. I'm going to guess that you're wanting to mount a Zeiss V8 scope and are trying to decide whether to get the rail or rings mount version? :-D

Re the 36mm rings - if you can't get Mauser brand rings in 36mm, a suggestion would be to look for Blaser R93 rings in that diameter. I purchased Blaser rings in 34mm to go with my Kahles K624i scope. They fit perfectly on the Mauser Double Square Mount base. They have the rounded shape base part of the rings, which matches the mount base very well. I believe that Blaser R8 rings will also fit the Mauser Double Square Mount  base, but will not look as good as the R93 rings. The Blaser rings have a base that has right angles rather than the curves of the R93 rings. See this post on my blog for pics of the R93 rings on the Mauser base.

Please let us know how you get on with this project.

Regards, Rick.

I purchased the rail version of the Zeiss V8, and use the original Mauser mount for it. Works like a charm, and looks (in my view) better than rings.

But if you already purchased the scope, I guess only rings will do for you. I would then suggest using the 3rd party picatinny rail that have been mentioned in this group earlier. A lot cheaper than the Mauser mount, and great quality.

I haven't bought the scope yet. I have V8 on my Blaser  and i want to go for another V8.
Does Zeiss rail mount available for M03 ? or i will go for picatinny rail, but thats my last option.

Page 31 of the current Mauser catalogue shows a picture of a Zeiss scope being mounted to an M03 using M03 Double Square Mounts! I think that's a good sign.

Yes - the Double Square Mount comes in rail-mount versions to suit Zeiss and Swarovski scope rails (and I think S&B too?). There are also versions for rings and one with a picatinny rail. Here is a link to a Triebel.com page showing the Zeiss variant.

And here's a link to the same product on the Eurooptic.com site - though out of stock.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a Mauser M03 Double Square Mount with Zeiss scope rail fitting if you contact the good dealers. One that sells both Mauser rifles and Zeiss scopes would be a good start - such as Miall's here in Oz.

As you've seen from my M03 blog, I'm using the ring mount versions, with Mauser 30mm rings for three Zeiss scopes and Blaser 34mm rings for one Kahles scope.

Regards, Rick.

Here's another supplier, in Germany, called Jagd & Freizeit. These Zeiss rail mounts are on special! Only 399Euro!

It looks like I was wrong about there being an S&B version. Oh well - ring mounts for those.

Rick, where did you get the steel R93 34mm rings? I can't seem to find them here in the States.I mounted an Aimpoint Hunter 34L using the supplied Picatinny style rings on the M03 Picatinny rail. Great scope for the 416 RM on dangerous game and easy to set up but the grand total scope height was about 6 floors above ground level :-0 I'm thinking of just changing out the rail for 34mm rings. That should bring it down to where it should be. Or, if you know anybody who wants to trade a Picatinney MD mount  for a 34mm ring MDS mount, that would be cool too!

Thanks!

Hi Cole. IIRC, the 34mm rings I’m using with my M03 and Kahles 6x24 scope are Blaser R93 style rings, made from Aluminium. Aluminum in some tongues. 🙂 I bought them from Mialls Gun Shop in Frankston, near Melbourne, Australia. Give ‘em a try.

Regards, Rick.
