A real bargain!

I am extremely pleased as I have managed to grab a brand new Mauser M98 magnum on sale at 40% discount to the list price! It is chambered in 375 H&H and the permit will take a couple of weeks to process so I will be pacing like a child waiting for santa claus. I only have the dealers picture of it and haven’t seen it in real life. The reason for the sale was that the importer lost the mandate as the Blaser group is setting up their own organisation. I plan to put a Leica Fortis 1-6 on it in a Recknagel Eramatic G9 plus and I will be hand loading Norma Oryx 300 grains for it.

You lucky, clever man! This rifle and calibre is on my wish list. There have been times I've whacked a big boar with my 270 or 30-06, with no apparent effect - at first. I think a M98 Magnum, in 375 or 416 would change this. :-) 375 would be more versatile I think. Please let us know all about this new rifle when you get it. It's a fantastic action. I've had ex-military model 98s before, along with a Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55. They certainly whet the appetite.
