Yesterday, Tursday 12.10, a destroyer of the navy of the US
imperialists, the USS Cole, was hit by a bomb placed at its side
while it lay anchored at Aden, Yemen - thousands of kilometers
from the shores of the USA - and damaged.
According to a recent CNN TV report, at 2200 hours GMT, 12.10,
5 of the crew were killed and 12 are missing, presumed dead.
"All indications are", said this US imperialist report, "that
this was a terrorist attack". The contrary is the case. This
destroyer was on a terrorist mission. Under the circumstances,
the counterattack against it - if such it was - was quite justi-
fied. Responsible for the deaths of the ship's crew members
are the US imperialists.
The USS Cole, a ship of the Burke destroyer class, carrying
advanced AEGIS weaponry, was stopping at Aden for a scheduled
refuelling, en route to the Persian Gulf to join the US and
other imperialist so-called "maritime interception operation"
directed against Iraq, a part of that aggression against that
country which has been going on for many years already and
which also constitutes a permanent military threat to all the
peoples in the Middle East.
In recent weeks and in particular in the last few days and
hours, another long-time aggression by the US and other imperia-
lists and their muppets against the Middle East peoples has es-
calated considerably. This is the constant aggression by that
completely illegal, openly racist so-called "state" of "Israel",
which today occupies large parts of Palestine.
The creation, in 1948, of this "state" never had anything to do
- as the imperialists always maintain - with protecting the le-
gitimate interests of the Jews in many countries, where they
have been subjected to racial persecution (anti-semitism) inclu-
ding annihilation by the Nazis in WW II and on other occasions,
but from the very start had only that aim of establishing - with
Jews persuaded and pressured to go from other countries to Pale-
stine to act as occupants/oppressors and also cannon fodder - a
bastion for imperialism there, which would perpetrate aggression
after aggression against the Palestinian and other Arab peoples,
which is precisely what that Zionist state entity has always
been doing too. That illegal, racist "state" which, for in-
stance, has never even defined its "borders" and whose very flag
symbolizes even further aggression, the two blue lines in that
flag being intended to represent, as "border lines", the river
Nile in Egypt respectively, the Tigris/Eufrat rivers in Iraq,
must go. It must be replaced by a democratic state in Palestine,
one that represents the interests of all those people living
there who will not engage in aggression and oppression against
others.
Some two weeks ago, the infamous butcher Sharon was allowed by
the Zionist "authorities" to visit a spot in Al-Quods (Jerusa-
lem) which is holy to many Arabs of the Muslim faith. This
touched off massive protests by Arabs in occupied Palestine,
which was met by "Israeli" military terrorism against the demon-
strators. Even on the next day, 7 people were shot dead, and
up to the day before yesterday, the number of Arab civilians
killed had risen to over 100.
Early yesterday, Thursday, two persons in civilian clothes at-
tending a funeral of one of the victims of this terror at Ra-
mallah, on the West Bank - occupied since the aggression in June
1967 by the Zionists, who with the support of US imperialism,
above all, have defied UN resolution after UN resolution for
them to end that occupation, which even some imperialist states
have had to concede is completely illegal - were discovered to
be "Israeli" soldiers on a murky mission, and justly killed by
the enraged people.
This was "murder", said the chief of the US imperialists, Clin-
ton, late on Thursday; it was "mob violence". It certainly was
nothing of the kind, but a just defence action against aggressor
troops. "Israeli" troops very clearly have no right at all to
be on the West Bank, and "Israeli" civilian so-called settlers
in this territory must be aware too of those many UN resolutions
over the years which have pointed to the obvious illegality of
continued occupation of it. The recent counterattacks against
these settlers, many of whom are armed and have directly parti-
cipated in the Zionist terrorism, thus are justified too.
According to the most recent reports, the Zionist aggressors
are now waging open war on the Palestinian people, using tanks
and helicopter gunships.
"Israeli helicopter gunships fired on Palestinian broadcasting
facilities in the West Bank and Palestinian Authority offices
in Gaza -- but Barak denied reports that Israeli forces had tar-
geted offices used by Arafat in Gaza", said CNN at 2115 hours
GMT on 12.10.
Later TV reports have mentioned Zionist attacks with tanks,
supported by helicopter gunships, against Ramallah on the West
Bank. The Palestinians now are fighting back also with guns.
The counterattack (as it most probably was) against the warship
of the US imperialists at Aden should also be seen in this con-
text, as part of the defence action of the Arab peoples against
that aggression directed at them also by "Israel", which above
all is a muppet of the US imperialists. It was a successful in-
stance of such defence action.
After the USS Cole had been hit, all ships of the 5th Fleet of
the US imperialists in the Mid-East area were ordered to leave
port and go out to sea. There later on Thursday was an attempt
by some reprepresentatives of the US imperialists to pass that
counterattack, which clearly meant a not insignificant setback
for them, off as "perhaps an accidential explosion". But this
was later reveversed again. FBI agents reportedly are to be
sent to Yemen to "search for terrorists". Real such, if they
want to find them, however are to be found much "closer to
home".
"We will not let ourselves be forced to retreat" (from the far-
off waters of the Middle East, presumably), one spokesman of
the navy of the US imperialists was reported to have said, late
on Thursday.
But retreat from those waters is precisely what the US navy
should be forced to do. It has no legitimate defence business
there at all, but only engages in aggression and threat of
aggression against those peoples who live in that part of the
world.
What's in the common interests of all peoples, including the
one of the USA, is the demand (and a corresponding one applies
to the forces of those semi-rivals and semi-partners of the US
imperialists too, for instance, the Russian new tsarists, as
well as to all other imperialist forces):
US navy, army and air forces, GO HOME!
And concerning that common muppet of the US imperialists and
all other reactionaries, which is now again escalating its
aggression:
The illegal "state" of "Israel" must be destroyed! A democratic
government must be established in all of Palestine!
