I really like this poem!!
I find it so interesting how you guys started off with positive
statements and then turned to negative but ended on a postive,
powerful note.
summs up any teenager I know!!
great work guys :)

You all have different feelings which is good to see, that some of you
have negative lines while others are positive. It's really nice how
you ended on a positive note :)

WOW, this poem was amazing. I agree with Marisa when she says how you
guys started negative and ended up on a powerful positive tone. I love
all these metaphors...by using these metaphors it seems to fit in
together so much more and it flows so good. I don't agree with Adam
though; I think these lines are really similar to each other by their
message of personal pain/contemplation, growing up, and being a f----
n' ROCKSTAR! Awesome poem

Wow!! That's such a deep, meaningful poem. It definitely creates vivid
thoughts and feelings when I read it! I love the title as well!
What I love most is how the poem flows nicely. I see a kind of dark
side to the poem, that is really appealing & amazing!
To me, this poem paints a picture of conflict. Maybe person vs.
person, or person vs. society...It also comes across as a lost world
or person ( "dying to find something to assure my security"). I feel
like the person behind/ in the story is looking for something...
peace? love? justice? safety?
Very thought provoking!!
Great job guys!! :)

I had to ask the group what the 2nd line referred to - after Lorenzo
explained it I came to really appreciate it. At some point in our
lives we have all been recruits and although it may be tough - the
reward is knowing that at some point you will be a veteran. I'd say
you're all on that road - God knows I'm working towards that status
myself! Well done group!

Personally, I don’t really see any negative outlooks from the lines.
Maybe just being real with yourself. About those lines though, the
fact that you chose those lines and put them into the poem shows the
will to change so I wouldn’t think of it as negative. I like the
title, the two sides of growing pains such as optimist and realist,
which you can see throughout the poem from the beginning to the end.
The first couple of lines relate back to being more mature while the
middle section relate to masks-that what we feel and what we show can
be contrasting things. And the last line sums up the poem, that no
matter what happens, anything can happen-that if you can wish it you
can become it.

Andrea : )
This poem was really different to read. It talks about negative
aspects but the message that it holds behind it is so clear. I love
the part about " seeing all the bad things in the world" and then us
wondering how it happened. Horrible things such as the earthquakes
that have been recently happening and the fact that we think about
these issues show that we care about what is happening in the world
and to others.

This poem was very good. Its interesting to see how some of you wrote
down positive things and others negative. Its also interesting how the
poem goes from negative to positive. It has a great message in it. I
liked this poem alot. I like that you ended the poem off on a positive
note. Great job guys.

I had to read the 2nd line two times until I realized that it wasn't
making a reference to a war veteran. When I came to that realization,
the line really came off strong. We may not be veterans of war
(thankfully), but we're veterans of our own life experiences, whatever
they may be. And I agree with everyone; I like how you ended off very
strong and positive. :)

I really like this poem because it is easy to relate to. It includes
mostly all the things we think about in life such as dreaming to be
different, being insecure, thinking about our life in general. This
poem seems to speak about what we want to be in life and that it will
happen. Sounds very motivational especially with the last line.
