I ran into a few people at FIRST Robotics this past weekend.
One of particular interest was Charles Lowrey, owner of Easybotics
    http://www.easybotics.com/
They make educational robots, etc. They ran the Bipedal Robot Workshop last summer on Oahu and will be running another this summer (with upgraded bot, etc) in Hilo.  The robot is small - it could stand in the palm of your hand, but works nicely.

Chester has also done some interesting work with Tesla Coils

(now I have Cole's attention ... for 50microsec)

Thanks for the introduction Jerry!

If anyone was confused my name is Chester Lowrey and I started www.easybotics.com two years ago and www.hilo90mhz.com is my personal website. Back in 2001 I briefly ran a pirate radio station under the name hilo90mhz - hence the name

Here are some pictures too: http://picasaweb.google.com/hilo90mhz

I like learning and building new things - it is almost a necessity for me.  I am self taught with regards to electronics and engineering in general, the first thing I do after acquiring something new and interesting is take it apart, I am not satisfied until I understand its inner workings (I am sure many of you are like this too :)

I like what you guys are doing on Maui with the maker space. If anyone makes it over to the big island and would like to chat or check out my workshop and toys here feel free to send me an email. Or even buy some of the products I am selling on the store ;)

Mahalo,
Chester

Welcome Chester.  You have built some pretty cool stuff.  A homemade CNC from an HP2 printer, in 2004 no less is pretty cool.  Do you ship from Hilo?  I will order some Brushbot motors.  If any other makers (Ben for keiki diy brushbots..) want to jump in on this order lmk.

Hi Brian,

Yup everything is made(except the Letry kits) and ships from Hilo HI, I can ship the motors USPS First class and they will get to Maui in 1 day or so for around $1.5 for 5-20 motors. I don't charge the order till I have weighed it and calculated exact shipping, so you only pay the actual amount.
Thanks,
Chester
