"Mirage", also known by its filename de_mirage, is a popular map in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive that was released in 2013. It was created by Valve Corporation, the game's developer, as a redesign of a Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source map called de_cpl_strike. The original design of the map was created by Michael "Bubkez" Hüll.[1] Mirage has been used in a number of esports tournaments and Major Championships in CS:GO. It is known for its good balance and offers numerous opportunities for players to display their tactical and coordination skills. Over time, the map has undergone changes and updates by Valve to improve its quality and increase the tactical balance.
Mirage started as a Counter-Strike community map known as de_cpl_strike, created by Michael "BubkeZ" Hüll. In 2013, it was remade by Valve as de_mirage, and was officially added to the game on 12 June 2013.[4] It has become one of the top three maps used in competitive play and in matchmaking.[5][6]

Mirage is the Global Offensive version of the Counter-Strike community map de_cpl_strike, created by Michael "BubkeZ" Hull. Hull later created a non-CPL version of the map and named it Mirage (de_mirage).[1] It was a popular community map in the Counter-Strike community for years, and a version of the map was even made for Counter-Strike: Source.

There are many kasbahs (fortresses) in Morocco. Perhaps the one that most closely resembles de_mirage is the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, central Morocco. It has small towers that fit quite closely with what we see on Mirage.
