I ventured out in the weather Saturday and ended up west of Roanoke. It is quite a treat to watch the action on the Whitethorne District. It was non-stop with constant meets at almost every siding. Some trains were held for more than two hours waiting for their turn. Between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM, the following trains ran – 51R, 824, 17M, 836, 29G, 769, 765, and 786. During this time, only 770 and 23G ran east on the Christiansburg District.
As the sun set, the flood gates were opened on the Christiansburg District with 147, 217, 825, 112, 821, 753 and 15T heading west while 236 came east, all in about two hours.
When I got home, I saw the post from Gary about today’s 16T, so I bagged him this morning too.
All photos and videos are on my site. Enjoy!
