It seems that the California Energy Commission has signed off on plans for developing wind farms off Eureka and Morro Bay.

It will take a few years, but economically this should be a big deal for the area.

Interesting podcast on how offshore wind might be for Humboldt. Features Natalie Arroyo, Lonyx Landry, and Rex Bohn.

FYI,
SB 876 passed the legislature which puts Prop 4 on the November ballot in Calif.  The proposed $10 B bond measure includes $475 M  to the Cal Energy Commission to support offshore wind generation including improvements to onshore port infrastructure.  I believe the large projects most likely to vie for that funding (if it passes in November) are the two projects at Humboldt and Morro Bays.  The bond would also would fund $325 M for clean energy transmission projects.

The Gov had to cut many of his clean energy iniatives at the May revise due to our present large state budget deficits.  SB 867 was hustled through with numerous authors to ask voters to approve funding via Prop 4 in November.
