Please help us track down Google page problem

Hello Neighbors,

A few people are having trouble with a function on our Mattole Google Group webpage. At the bottom of each thread (at least on my laptop-- it might be different on phones, but somewhere on each conversation), there are two options: Reply All and Reply to Author (also a third option, Forward). 

For some people, one of those reply options--Reply to Author, the one that lets you directly contact the writer, rather than the whole group-- is greyed out and unusable.

Is anyone else having this problem? 

We have tried many tricks, and Seth has contacted Google with a trouble ticket, but no help yet. We thought maybe if we knew how widespread the problem is, we might be better able to address it.

PS One workaround is to get all the posts via email, then you can just choose to either Reply (to one) or Reply All, as with any email. However, receiving the emails is not practical for or desired by everyone.
