~~~~~~~ 800-376-6843 is the number ~~~~~~~
Recently, several people have commented on the trouble they're having with Frontier landlines in calling out of the Valley.
I have noticed myself that often as i try to dial out, i get a recording telling me all long-distance circuits are busy.
Kathy, in her message below, explains what we need to do. It may be a slight drag to deal with the labyrinth of menu options, etc., of a mega-frustrating mega-corporation, but it is important that they hear our complaints. It's not good not to be able to connect with the outside world (well... never mind) and when the internet is down too, or even just Facebook, as it was today, many people have no way of communicating with distant friends. Worse would be if someone needed emergency help and found that 911 wouldn't work.
At any rate, please call to get them to take heed!
Thank you,
~Laura
Subject: Frontier number
Laura, the number we should call to complain about the recent failures of Frontier’s long-distance connections (long distance for us is even to Ferndale!) is 1-800-376-6843.  One of our local service folks, Bill, says that having a lot of people call to complain is what will draw Frontier’s attention to solve the problem.
Thanks,
Kathy
So I've been on the phone with Frontier for over an hour, and they came up with the lame cause as being my long-distance carrier (I have MCI).  Of course, I know it's not them, but that was Frontier's excuse.  I told them that my land line isn't on the same fiberoptic cable as the lower Mattole, but that didn't seem to matter to them...and also related the history of Verizon's overselling everything between me and Garberville/Whitethorn/Shelter Cove...and that didn't matter either.
If anyone isn't able to dial 911, I'd like to hear about it....and if anyone has a different long-distance carrier than MCI, could you email me? - Claire (hone...@asis.com)
Try going here where there's a live chat box.
I just tried calling out to Frontier-- results in short:
1-- couldn't call, no phone would ring on the other end
2-- couldn't call, got the "all circuits busy" message
3-- could call, but when i got to the lady who asked what the problem was, we were immediately cut of
4-- could call, but call spontaneously dropped.
5-- couldn't call again-- no service
6-- repeat
At any rate, the chat box online might be more successful
I just spent an hour on line with Frontier Communications. Told the tech what is happening, apparently to all 629 prefixes. Explained that all of our services require calling out of our prefix area. Stressed that we need our phone to work out of our prefix area in an emergency., let alone just general services. He wrote a ticket for repair and set up an appointment for the 7th and said they will follow up. Didn't resolve our problems but their is now a written complaint.This is very annoying, been trying to call our vet all morning just to hear how the circuits are busy.
Thank you, Patty.
From my Live Chat i also got a repair ticket. Tomorrow, the 6th, after 10 a.m.
I forwarded them three more emails besides mine to show that it wasn't just me (since i was on the computer and it was easy to cut and paste).
Maybe they're getting it!
Thanks for letting us know. Maybe they'll be smart and address yours early while they're out for mine... or just look at the big problem and realize it's not our individual phones that are to blame.
Hi All,
 I got through yesterday with a troubleshoot ticket scheduled for today at 10:00. Had a call back from Mark with Frontier, in Ferndale, saying they've got several companies working on it, from Eureka to Conneticut. He said they're working on it today, so there may be a few glitches, yet, but for the most part it should be working.
His number is  786-0060 if you have any questions.
Susan
Utilizing the phone number suggested, the first person I spoke with stated I needed to be switched to the 'Copper Team' Tech support at 1.800.921.8104
To this person, I explained our 'common occurrence' situation as had others before me.  I asked this woman if there was a ticket number issued.  About that time the phone line went dead on their end.
The End!
