have an editorial today in the NY Times, saying that Kennedy is endangering every American's health (I've copied it into the attached file, in case it is behind a paywall for you).

For one thing,  the US federal government is terminating 22 grants worth nearly US$500 million for projects researching messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines.  This has not gone over well with the scientific community; for example, this recent editorial in the Nature called it the “highest irresponsibility.”  Some new mRNA vaccines are already in clinical trials, as described in this article; it will be interesting to see whether they get approved, assuming good results from the trials.

In March of this year, Federal funding was cut.  The Communicable Disease Department at the Humboldt Health Department (HHD)  was given only 1 week's notice.

HHD lost nine staff members in one swoop, leaving them scrambling to quickly disperse jobs to the remaining staff members.

HHD is currently monitoring 85 reportable diseases circulating in Humboldt

For those interested in receiving the COVID shot, the HHD  does not have any COVID booster shots there; in fact, she had to go out of the county to find the booster for herself.

You can get the COVID vaccine at your next medical appointment. However, the vaccine currently available is the 2024-2025 vaccine; the new vaccine will not be available until around October.
