I am having trouble with the last step of the 2012 beta 2 guide ( -noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3676-using-vnext-beta2-in-a-lab-part-2-configuration/), the guide says that after adding in a boundary and then adding that to a boundary group I should be able to hit refresh and my AD sites will populate however this does not happen for me (no AD sites populate). I have set the IP address range to 10.0.0.10 - 10.0.0.100 and my AD site subnet is set to 10.0.0.0/24, I have disabled the firewall, restarted both VM's (vmware workstation 7.1.4 build 385536) and still no luck.

Yes, problem seems to be fixed but I am not sure how. It was either me turning the firewall off or fixing up the MSSQL errors I had (needed to enable tcp on the SCCM's servers ip address in the SQL server configuration manager) so that the reporting service could work correctly. As I said not sure but my sites have now populated while I wasn't looking so yay I guess.

I installed internet security 2012 and after this I tried to run my Vmware x64 OS and I get message that VT is disabled. Went to BIOS, it was enabled so I restarted, shut down and nothing didnt help. Does anyone have same problem? This happend on my HP laptop. Any idea what to do?

Vmware 7, windows 7x64. VT is Virtualization Technology that enables you to run x64 OS in Vmware (if is disabled you can only run 32 bit OS) and this setting in bios is ON. Where in Bitdefender 2012 I can give Vmware all rights? I notice that even bridged connection is not working.

Do you have Firewall Paranoid mode ON ? I have created a ticket on your behalf (ID: 201108101002532) however I will escalate it to the Dev. Team when I will have your answer as the info I currently have are incomplete.

Replied to your ticket 201108101002532. Please send me the requested log file. If you can't attach it to the email, upload it to an online file sharing server such as MediaFire, Rapidshare, Sendspace etc and send me the download link via email.

Restarting is the key here, you cant simple disbale Active Virus Control, it also works the other way around. If you re enable active virus control and then run vmware without restarting the PC then vmware runs just fine, but as soon as you restart the PC vmware refuses to see that VT is enabled again

Wboy: if you refuse providing logs I'm afraid I can't assist you. You will have to wait for the fix to be release with the help of others more willing to provide a list of installed software and drivers. I would strongly recommend you to read the End User License Agreement found at the link below:

* Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.

I followed the steps you have outlined below and I can now start a 64bit guest OS within VMWare with Bitdefender2012 services running. By renaming the avchv.sys file, does this disable any functionality within Bitdefender ? (eg Active Virus Control.. I am assuming that avchv.sys is related to the active virus control???)

I would also like to know the answer to this question? I really dont want to do somethign like this as a workaround onyl to find that when this is fixed properly I never get the fix because I disabled Active Virus Control premanently when I renamed the file.

Also, if I run the Microsoft Hardware-Assisted Virtualization detection tool before the fix it indicates hardware assisted virtualization is not availible. After I use the above workaround the tool indicates hardware virtualization IS availible and I can open 64 bit guests in VMWare (Server 2008R2 and Windows 8 x64 Dev preview).

I have the same problem with WMware workstation 8 on Windows Vista business x64 SP2 and Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 but i don't want to disable Active Virus Control premanently. So i've prefered to reinstall the older version of Bitdefender Internet Security unless a better solution will be found.

It has been over a month now with no feedback from bitdefneder support despite the [escalated] natore of this post. Can we get an update as to when this will be fixed properly without needing workarounds to disable functioanlity of the antivirus that we have paid for.

The same time I posted my last reply above I also contacted bitdefender's live support to get a status update. The person I spoke to said that they would another member to respond to me with details on if a real fix has been provided. I was also informed they would look into th epossibility fo extending my subscription by the delay I have been waiting.

That was nearly two weeks ago and I have still had to contact from them. I have all but given up hope. It would appear that while bitdefender may get rave reviews on their procuct their support is very muck lacking.

The issue that you have reported has been acknowledged by our team and is currently being worked on for a fix. The fix will be done by means of automatic update and won't require any additional action on your end. Please rest assure that we will let you know about the fix as soon as we will launch it.

Thanks. This update works for me too. I have not been able to launch my virtual machine in vmware for more than 2 months. However, I never notice that it is because of BitDefender since a couple of weeks ago. I found this website and waited for the solution then.

Hi I have followed the instructions from Donk's and MSoK's posts. I have used the updated Unlocker and created the Mac OS X VM from the VMware Player. But now, the VM just stuck at the Apple logo. What is the problem and how can I diagnose? I am using an i5-2410 (Sandy bridge) laptop with VMware Player 3.1.4 build-385536. Please help.

Please add a post with file attachments of the vmx and vmware.log files from the folder where you created the Mac OS X guest. We can then take it from there, but please use the attachment feature, do not post in the body of the text. Makes it easier for us to look at, and give you a quicker answer.

Attached is the ZIP file. I basically installed and updated on another machine and try to open the VM on my Sandy bridge laptop but it is stuck at the Apple logo. The VM is working fine on my Desktop (i7 machine, non Sandy bridge).

That is likely due to the fact there is no Sandy Bridge kernel shipped in standard updates to Mac OS X. My suggestion is to take the VM back to the machine that it works on and then try to install the separately released Sandy Bridge aware kernel. There are a couple of ways of doing this:

I would make sure you take a snapshot of the VM first so you can roll back. The new kernel should be OK on both machines. I don't have a Sandy Bridge machine to test it against, so you will have to try it out yourself. Good luck!

I have updated the VM to 10.6.7 + darwin kernel 10.7.3 (BridgeHelp). I was able to remove the CPUID mask from the .vmx file and still stuck at the Apple logo when I boot this same VM using my Sandy bridge laptop. The VM is working fine under my Core i7 desktop. Attached is the .vmx and log file. Any advice?

Well it isn't anything in VMware itself, so the error is probably in Mac OS X. You will need to boot in verbose mode to see if there are any messages in the kernel logs. So on the working machine boot into the guest and open a Terminal window. The use the follwoing command:

Yes, it is a retailed Mac OS X 10.6.3 DVD. How do I load the FakeSMC.kext? Any instructions? I just found out that if I changed SMC.present = "FALSE", I experienced the same hang situation on my Desktop machine... So, the problem could be the SMC. Please let me know how I can load the FakeSMC.kext to the VM. (I cannot use SMC.present = "TRUE" for my SandyBridge laptop as the VM just keeps saying "This is not a Mac OS X Server" and shuts down... So, FakeSMC should be the way to go now...)

Actually I do not want you to run the FakeSMC.kext as it can be a cause of the problem. Have you run the unlocker on the Sandy Bridge machine? The error message about not running Ma OS X Server would indicate that you haven't.

4) So, changed the SMC.present to "FALSE" and then power on the VM again. I pressed F8 at the vmware logo, then went to the interactive shell and used "fs0:\System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi -v". I ended up having the hang situation again at the grey screen trying to load the Snow Leopard installer.

I tried the unlocker on Vmware Player 3.1.4. and occasionally got some errors due to the windows.bat file not doing some obvious things. I had published a different version before, but also found on error with my version as it did not stop hqtray.exe which was keeping one of the DLLs open. Can you please download a test version from -test.

[Problem]
VMWare's keyboard mapping is imperfect, sometimes resulting in certain keys stopping functionality when running under VMWare, requiring the user to setup their configuration settings manually in VMWare. For a detailed explanation see the following article:
