"The Name Game" is a song co-written and performed by Shirley Ellis[2] as a rhyming game that creates variations on a person's name.[3] She explains through speaking and singing how to play the game. The song as originally performed gives no indication of what to do with names where the stress falls on a syllable after the first, like Anita or Antoinette; however, the cover version on the workout video Sweatin' to the Oldies 3 (vocals by Donna Miller) suggests that the first syllable should be dropped after the name is first said; the name Madonna is sung as "Madonna-donna-bo-bonna," etc.
So we really like the name Tucker for our new little man but then I was sitting at the table goofing off with my girls saying their names to that old rhyme. You know "Erin, berin, bo berin, banana fanna fo ferrin, me my mo merrin, Erin." Then in my head, because we aren't telling anyone our name for LO, realized the name we like rhymes with a not so great word:( Would you still use it or change it? Now it's eating at me because I really love that name!! Dang it!
That song is my name test. When I first find a name that I like, I do the banana nana bo fanna test and if there's a word in there that I don't like, I can't use the name haha.. I don't think that many people would even think of doing that, I haven't heard anyone sing that song for a long time... I think you're safe!
Thank you for the input ladies! I'm not sure where that song came from after so many years but I'm a regular goof ball with the kids and you just never know what might fly out of my mouth. Pulled that one outta the cobwebs and then was ticked and wished I hadn't remembered it! LOLZ
I changed my baby name because everyone kept saying my LO would get made fun of at school. I really liked the name Maximilliona. I got it from a soap opera character name and then thought it was cool that Jessica Simpson named her girl Maxwell which is just as different for a girl. idk But I hated my name (not a make fun of name -just different). I was upset when I couldnt find key chains, rulers and such in my name.
So Tucker is not bad at all! lol Its a cute name. Children sometimes dont change but I think by the time they start getting into that age where they curse, they will be a little more mature. That taunting song is usually only used by lil elementary kids if anything.
