Wind farm threats.
Three wind farms have been proposed on areas which are within our past and present permit areas.
There is no need for these industrial constructions on high level limestone karst. Spain has plenty of windy areas where a wind farm could be constructed and which would not threaten karst ecosystems.
Responses have been made and will be distributed to saturate local social media, Town Halls and the Caving Federation. One way or another the three critiques will end up as formal 'alegaciones' joining many more against these destructive eye-sores.
See https://www.matienzocaves.org.uk/windfarms2025.htm for the details.

Not the same environmental issues but still of interest regarding the inappropriate siting of onshore wind farms.  The issue here is that the peat landscape where the windfarm will be sited will be destroyed/badly damaged.  The peat is a big carbon sink.  It also holds a great deal of water which will otherwise pour south to the Calder/Hebden Bridge and north to the Aire/Hawoth.  It will increase the flood risk.  " Destructive" - yes.  "Eye-sores" - in the eye of the beholder!

The expectation for this one is that it will end up on the minister's desk and they will have to choose between upsetting voters in unsafe Labour seats and Labour's policy shift that allows onshore wind farms.
