65th Fiesta

Fiesta -  celebrating 65 years of speleology under and around Matienzo.
For Matienzo villagers, cavers, partners and friends.
Date: Saturday 9th August 2025

Preliminary timetable - subject to changes / additions.

All day and previous days - Caves of Matienzo Photo Exhibition by Sam Davis - in the old school, Cubillas.
And, using the same venue, a cave photo competition. (See more details below)
Afternoon - Tortilla Competition (possibly) and Grand Duck Race.
Evening BBQ outside Casa Germán. (Probably 3 - 5€ per person)
Later - Music / dance / results of the photo competition / Duck Race / Tortilla competition, maybe a speech or two.
(There will be a large tent on Pablo's car park for the night's activities.)

Photo Competition
Theme: Caves explored by cavers in and around Matienzo, i.e. from Vallina northwards.
3 categories: Passages, Formations, Cavers
Judge: Sam Davis
Maximum total of 3 prints per photographer, colour or B&W.
Printed for display (not projected); preferably mounted for hanging, or prints could be laid out on a table. Each print must have an accompanying label with a caption to include, at least, the category, the cave and the photographer's name.
Maximum size should be around A4, 10"x8" etc

The prints can be displayed as soon as you arrive in Matienzo then collected after the 9th August.
Prizes: Glory. Cake might be involved.

Please make any suggestions for additions etc
(More publicity (posters / social media) and invites can go out after Easter.)

Hi All,
Chatting to people there has also been a suggestion of taking youngsters
caving and a football match (5 a side / 7 a side?). May be the
youngsters we took caving last time will be the Spanish football
players!
