Wind farm promoters (and possibly some members of the Cantabrian Government) are pushing to have wind farms, battery storage units and new electricity substations built over karst - specifically the karst that we have been exploring for the last 65 years. There are 4 immediate proposed projects: a battery storage site at Fuente las Varas with substation, and three second-attempts to have wind farms built on Monte Llusa (Hazas), the Sierra de Sel (Ogarrio) and Fuente Pico (Llueva / Secadura).
The main concerns are visual and, especially, irreparable damage to the surface and underground ecosystems and biota.
Formal 'alegaciones' are being written (in English and Spanish) and the first allegation (Fuente las Varas batteries) has been transmitted via the 'electronic register' to the Cantabrian government. The others will follow in the next week or so.
Thanks are due to Helen Unger Clark from Ogarrio who has the necessary key / password to send off documents via this route.

The remaining alegaciones about the wind farms are now written and will be sent off to the Cantabrian government and other concerned groups, e.g. the Cantabrian Caving Federation and townhalls / mayors, for them to use any part as they wish.
The English versions are here:
