Welcome to Math Trek, the Cary's own mathematics, movement and photography game!

We are meeting today at 2pm by the main entrance to the NC Museum of Art, near this abstract and math-rich sculpture in front of it:

  • Bring your cameras
  • Bring snacks and water
  • Dress comfortably to move around, run and jump
  • Brad Herring will be making a little movie about Math Trek, taping kids and parents - have fun! Make silly faces at the camera!
  • If you like surprises, don't look at the attached game sheet - this is what we are playing today

Cheers,

Maria,

I can barely comprehend what you are doing with this Math Trek, but it sounds both fascinating and FUN!
I am daunted by all the driving I already do and this is the main reason I have not shown up to do this.

I'm wondering if I could lure the group to our farm to do one of these projects in the woods? Not sure what other things we'd have that were unique enough for others to want to make the trip?

Or maybe I just have to get in the car and check it out!

Love, Louise

Louise,

Going to your farm some day, and maybe inviting your regulars to join us, is a great idea. There is a lot to be seen as far as math in nature goes! Let us talk about it more, for one of the upcoming Treks. We can probably carpool from Cary with several cars, too - it may be fun for the kids.

hmmmmm another idea. . . I don't know if you ever meet on Wednesdays, but our homeschoolers of color group might be interested in doing a joint meeting with you all. In which case location wouldn't matter that much because we are far flung anyhow.

let's keep thinking! Let me know as you are scheduling treks and we can work out something. my son would find this fun I think. he's 10.
And I bet other chatham county folks would join in if it were here.

Love, Louise
